Broome Public Library children’s and teen programs

Children can join holiday activities, First Nations story time, Social Minecraft and reading programs, while Innovation Station gives teenagers a term-time, teen-led technology group. The current holiday activities are free and require booking, with a responsible adult remaining on site.

Broome Recreation and Aquatic Centre School Holiday Program

BRAC runs supervised, activity-based holiday sessions for children aged 6–12. Enrolment is essential, and families should check session dates and strict collection times. Children need enclosed shoes, a hat and sunscreen, plus bathers when water activities are scheduled; BRAC is nut-free during child-based activities.

Broome Performing Arts Co-Op

Local dance tuition includes the 2026 ORIGINS program for children aged 3–9 and APEX for dancers from age nine through to adulthood. Enrolment is required, and classes are held at 34 Hunter Street, Broome.

🌈 Early years and youth connection

Our Mob Playgroup — St Mary’s College Broome

Led by two First Nations facilitators, this Cable Beach playgroup generally welcomes children from birth to four with a parent or carer. Adults remain and participate with their children during sessions, which run four mornings a week.

KindiLink — Broome Primary School

Aboriginal children aged 0–3 can attend play-and-learn sessions with a parent or carer from Tuesday to Thursday. Registration is through the school, with immunisation evidence and the child’s birth certificate required for enrolment.

Drop In — Broome Youth and Families Hub

Young people aged 5–17 can walk in without a referral for after-school and evening activities. Depending on the program, options may include basketball, fishing, gardening, music and cooking. Case managers and family support workers also operate from the hub.

💡 Parenting, wellbeing and development

Children and Parenting Support Program — Broome Youth and Families Hub

This voluntary ten-week case-management program assists parents, families and primary carers raising children aged 0–18. Families can work on their own goals, parent–child relationships and links with community supports. Individuals and agencies may refer via referrals@byfh.org.au.

headspace Broome

People aged 12–25 can access counselling, doctors, work and study help, sexual health care, and alcohol and other drug support. Services are free; GP appointments are bulk-billed for Medicare card holders. Wheelchair access and designated disability parking are available, and transport help may be possible. Young people can phone 08 9194 4500 or submit the centre’s registration and consent form.

Stepping Stones Therapy Services — Broome

Children from birth to 18 can receive family-centred speech pathology and occupational therapy from the Broome office. The practice is a registered NDIS provider; Broome enquiries can be directed to the Practice Principal on 0477 190 111 or ashlee@ssts.com.au.

Reconnect and Youth Housing — Broome Youth and Families Hub

Weekday one-to-one casework is available for people aged 12–25 who are experiencing or at risk of homelessness. Bibimbiya Jan-ga Buru, Women and Children’s Healing Place

This family and domestic violence hub supports women and children from Broome, Derby and Bidyadanga through advocacy, case management, counselling, financial counselling, legal assistance and other activities.
